This primary responsibility of this position is to oversee the streamlined operation of the IS department and to ensure it aligns with the business objectives of the organization. The principal goals are to manage the technical environment for multiple departments and to attain all IT service level agreements for the user community within the organization. The director will plan, coordinate, direct, and design operational activities of specific IS functional teams as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission critical business operations; work closely with both technology groups and upper management to identify, recommend, develop, implement; support cost-effective solutions for all aspects of the organization. Responsibilities include: Analyzing the needs of customers and establishing priorities for system design and implementation Understand and ensure compliance to IS standards and methodology Recommend and develop plans for systems development and operations, hardware, software and equipment purchases Budget and staffing Negotiate and contract with consultants, technical personnel and vendors for services and products; Personnel administration of IS resources, both internal and external - interview, hire and train employees; plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees for performance; address complaints and resolve problems Prepare reports and make formal and informal presentations to Tyson executive management Provide direction to the vendors and stay current on the latest technologies of the systems supported by the organization to assist in the future planning of necessary IT initiatives Responsible for overall quality of solutions supporting the business Conduct feasibility studies to support buy verses build decisions Design and implement training plans for team members as well as mentor their professional development Manage capital, travel, and training budgets for the organization Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities: Partner and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams from other peer IT organizations through all phases of design process including alignment with client, understanding context, developing insights, exploring and defining opportunities, setting User Centric Design (UCD) strategy, creating actionable/tangible design expressions, communicating vision, and guiding. Research and synthesize data, best practices and innovative solutions and apply insights to inform design decisions. Ensure compliance to latest Human Factors standards and FDA Human Factors Guidance. Elicit requirements through a range of activities from planning and leading stakeholder interviews, working from problem statements, articulating business objectives and asking the right questions in the right ways to inform design thinking processes. Plan and facilitate Design Thinking workshops to support creative collaboration and evangelize customer centricity with clients and other peer IT organizations. Design and conduct usability assessment and provide recommendations for product design improvements based on Human Factors guidelines and industry best practices. Develop Human Machine Interface (HMI) system requirements working with design team and suppliers to determine mechanical and packaging specifications, environmental specifications, system functional specifications, etc. Fulfill HMI design, development and integration tasks. Assess the usability of various interfaces. Work with related departments and multiple suppliers for system design, functional development and testing. Apply ergonomic standards and principles. Determine and implement HMI system architecture and communication network structure. Develop communication and diagnostics. Perform internal and external design reviews for prototype and production designs, models, and drawings. Develop and release system software. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Experience: 10+ years of experience in Information Technology or related area with proven management experience. Computer Skills: Extensive understanding of business process design and experience using and building a System Development Lifecycle Methodology; significant experience designing, building and implementing enterprise level solutions; ability to create, analyze, and evaluate information systems proposals; extensive knowledge of relevant multi-user computer systems, applications, and/or equipment; knowledge of current technology developments and trends; experience developing and executing integrated test plans; practical project management capabilities and demonstrated ability to develop good working relationships with business area management and other team members.
