This primary responsibility of this position is to oversee the streamlined operation of the IS department and to ensure it aligns with the business objectives of the organization. The principal goals are to manage the technical environment for multiple departments and to attain all IT service level agreements for the user community within the organization. The director will plan, coordinate, direct, and design operational activities of specific IS functional teams as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission critical business operations; work closely with both technology groups and upper management to identify, recommend, develop, implement; support cost-effective solutions for all aspects of the organization. Responsibilities include: Analyzing the needs of customers and establishing priorities for system design and implementation Understand and ensure compliance to IS standards and methodology Recommend and develop plans for systems development and operations, hardware, software and equipment purchases Budget and staffing Negotiate and contract with consultants, technical personnel and vendors for services and products; Personnel administration of IS resources, both internal and external - interview, hire and train employees Plan, assign and direct work Appraise performance Reward and discipline employees for performance Address complaints and resolve problems Prepare reports and make formal and informal presentations to Tyson executive management Provide direction to the vendors and stay current on the latest technologies of the systems supported by the organization to assist in the future planning of necessary IT initiatives Responsible for overall quality of solutions supporting the business Conduct feasibility studies to support buy verses build decisions Design and implement training plans for team members as well as mentor their professional development Manage capital, travel, and training budgets for the organization Other duties as assigned Accountable for establishing and maintaining the Advanced Analytics and Data Strategy and Data Stewardship approach for Tyson in conjunction with the major business functions and IT towers, inclusive of business intelligence, data visualization, master data management and use of data in transactional workflows. Defines new approaches, techniques and/or technologies to improve overall delivery quality, functionality, speed and cost of data and analytics initiatives. Must provide thought leadership in the area of analytics, big data, master data management and use of modern data technologies. Extensive interactions with all levels of the business and IT through the ongoing work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to achieve goals related to both the data and analytics strategy as well as the specific data and analytics initiatives required by Tyson. Keeps abreast of changing market and industry approaches to data, analytics, artificial intelligence and other related capabilities and propagates these across the organization Determines the appropriate tool sets that will create a business advantage, implements and trains personnel in their use. Maintains and improves existing data analytic tools. Supports investigations, task forces, regulatory submissions by providing data-based rationales and ensuring data and analytics quality. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. Experience: 10+ years of experience in Information Technology or related area with proven management experience. Computer Skills: Extensive understanding of business process design and experience using and building a System Development Lifecycle Methodology; significant experience designing, building, and implementing enterprise level solutions; ability to create, analyze, and evaluate information systems proposals; extensive knowledge of relevant multi-user computer systems, applications, and/or equipment; knowledge of current technology developments and trends; experience developing and executing integrated test plans; practical project management capabilities and a demonstrated ability to develop good working relationships with business area management and other team members.
